Catholic Life
Our School Mission: We are growing together with Jesus in our hearts, heads and hands.
Our vision is at the heart of everything we do. It shapes our curriculum, guides our policies, and underpins the culture and ethos of our school—something we are deeply proud of.
As our children grow and mature, they are encouraged to live out their faith in meaningful ways—through their words, actions, and choices. They learn the importance of kindness, generosity, and compassion, particularly towards those who are vulnerable or less fortunate, both within our local community and across the wider world.
Below are some examples of our Catholic life and mission—how the children of St Joseph’s truly put their FAITH INTO ACTION.
Catholic Social Teaching
Catholic Social Teaching is central to the life of our school and is valued by staff, children, and governors alike.
CAFOD’s Nine Principles of Catholic Social Teaching at St Joseph’s
At St Joseph’s, we live out the nine principles of Catholic Social Teaching (CST) in all that we do. These values shape our curriculum, our community, and the way we put our faith into action.
-
Human Dignity – Every person is made in the image and likeness of God and deserves respect.
-
The Common Good – We work together so that everyone can flourish and no one is left behind.
-
Participation – Everyone has the right and responsibility to take part in community life.
-
Subsidiarity – Decisions should be made at the most local level possible, empowering people to have a voice.
-
Stewardship – We are caretakers of God’s creation and must protect the earth for future generations.
-
Option for the Poor – We show a special concern for those who are most vulnerable and in need.
-
Solidarity – We stand together as one human family, united by love and compassion.
-
Distributive Justice – Resources and opportunities should be shared fairly so that all people can live with dignity.
-
Promoting Peace – We are called to be peacemakers in our homes, our school, and our world.
